Resolved: IP blocked when I haven’t logged in for months?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Haven't logged into WalletHub for weeks and got an alert email about credit report.
  • - IP address blocked even without login on home or public networks.
Updated by user Mar 17, 2026

They answered me and looked into why my IP address was blocked and apparently IP cloud relay (an internal setting on the iPhones), can cause your IP address to get blocked unintentionally when it’s enabled.

Original review updated Mar 17, 2026
updating review because they answered quickly. Apparently IP relay (setting on iPhones) can cause IP addresses to get blocked unintentionally by their system.

I didnt even know it was turned on.
I logged into WalletHub for several weeks, if not months, and today I got an email asking me to confirm a credit report alert. This is my first time logging in in several weeks, and I immediately get a message that my IP address is blocked. We weren't even on Wi-Fi at the time; we were sitting outside of a store when I tried to login, so I waited until we got home and then connected to my home network, and it's still blocking my IP address. I've noticed other people have had this issue, and their IP address gets blocked even when they don't try to login too many times.

So their reasoning, being that this happens because of too many login attempts, is false. I haven't logged in at all.

Preferred solution: I want to get into my account. And change my password. Because now I’m concerned about why my IP would be blocked if I haven’t logged in.

Hi Kathy! A good idea would be to contact your lender’s fraud or dispute department again and request a reinvestigation or clarification on why the outcome changed. If you believe the issue was not handled correctly by your lender, you can also contact the Federal Trade Commission and your State Attorney General.

Hi Mazy! To clarify, the Petty Cash account in WalletHub is a manual tracking feature — it’s not an actual account that holds or transfers money.

This means you can’t transfer funds from Petty Cash to your Chime account or any other financial account. Petty Cash is simply there to help you manually record and monitor small cash amounts or incidental expenses that aren’t linked to a specific bank or card account.

Just my two cents. I would not interact with this site.

(Wallethub).

You don’t need a legitimate interaction trying to resolve potential fraud by divulging emails, SS# or any other personal information. Put alerts on your file with the credit bureau.

WalletHub
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2737155

You’re right that placing fraud alerts with the credit bureaus is a smart precaution for anyone worried about identity theft. At the same time, if an account has been created at WalletHub using someone’s info, the only way it can be located and deleted is by comparing encrypted data sets.

That’s why registration is required. Please know that all information provided during registration is encrypted and protected by the same security standards used by banks, ensuring it remains secure from any unauthorized access.

WalletHub

Hi there! Unfortunately, WalletHub does not currently offer phone support.

If you’ve already reached out to the WalletHub Help team via email and haven’t received a response, please check your spam or junk folder, as replies can sometimes end up there. If you haven’t emailed them yet, please contact help at wallethub dot com so they can assist you. That said, please note that WalletHub is not a bank or lender; it's a personal finance company offering free credit scores and reports to users. The soft inquiry you saw as coming from WalletHub has no impact on your score and is only visible to you.

Hard inquiries occur only when a lender pulls your info after a credit application. If you don’t recall creating a WalletHub account, it’s possible someone else registered using your details. To resolve this, your identity must be fully verified before any account created in your name can be located and deleted. Additionally, your SSN can be blacklisted to prevent further unauthorized accounts from being created at WalletHub.

To proceed, please start the registration process by entering your info to verify your identity. After registering, go to your Settings page and scroll to the bottom to locate your Unique ID. Then, send the WalletHub Help team an email with your Unique ID and let them know if you’d like your SSN blacklisted.

Once the Help team receives this info, they will complete the process and confirm by email within 5 business days. For security reasons, accounts can only be deleted after proper identity verification has been completed.

Complaint

AI Highlights
  • - Paid WalletHub for monitoring credit and guidance on inquiries and scores.
  • - Fraudulent credit inquiry appeared via Chase Bank; Chase canceled the card.

I enrolled in a paid membership to WalletHub for their promise to monitor my credit, advise me of inquiries, credit scores, and all the issues consumers may experience. However, I recently had a fraudulent inquiry on my credit via Chase Bank, as someone applied for a credit card using my information.

Chase Bank canceled the card, did their part, but not WalletHub.

I have written to them three times reporting this, with no reply, and their phone number is disconnected. Talk about consumer fraud!

  • No assistance given
  • No response to email complaints
  • No working phone number

Preferred solution: FIX THE FRAUDULENT INQUIRY THE BANK DID--WHY NO RESPONSE FROM WALLET HUB TO MY CONTINUED EMAILS

WalletHub

Hi Sandra. We’re very sorry to hear about the fraudulent inquiry on your credit report – that's understandably frustrating.

Rest assured that WalletHub does not engage in consumer fraud. While WalletHub does not currently offer phone support, please know that the WalletHub Premium Help team has replied to every email you sent. It’s likely their responses ended up in your spam or junk folder, so please check there when you get a chance. That said, keep in mind that WalletHub simply shows you your TransUnion credit report.

The information that you see on your WalletHub account, such as hard inquiries, is automatically retrieved from them. WalletHub cannot change anything on your credit report or your credit score.

Since you’ve already spoken with Chase about the unauthorized inquiry, the next step would be to file a formal dispute with TransUnion. If the same inquiry appears on your Experian or Equifax reports, it is recommended to dispute it with those bureaus as well.
